Welcome to Riley!
Mission Statement and Beliefs
Vision Statement
We envision that Riley Upper Elementary will be a safe environment in which our students will learn. Collaboratively, the Riley staff, parents, and community will work to create a positive and productive learning climate for all. Students will be encouraged and taught to problem solve and make decisions that benefit themselves and others. Student achievement will be assessed continually to monitor progress and drive instruction. Teachers and students will be held accountable to high standards, not only academically, but in conduct as well. Riley Upper Elementary students will be encouraged to be responsible, respectful, self-disciplined members of society.
Our Mission
Learning, Growing and Achieving Together
We believe:
- In high expectations
- Students can accept responsibility for their learning and themselves
- In mutual respect and collaboration
- In a multiplicity of programs
- In meeting individual learning needs
School Information
Absences
Parents only need to call the school to report an absence in the event of an extended absence or in cases of communicable diseases, such as head lice, chicken pox and measles. In order to ensure safety and to confirm a child is absent with parent knowledge, an automated system, TeleParent, will make calls on the day of the absence. The system will pull the data once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Therefore, two calls will be made to report an absence to the parent. You do not need to respond to this call, unless your child should be at school.
Parents will be able to access student attendance records at any time with the online access available through ParentConnect.
Late Sign-In
Students arriving after 8:35 a.m. should go directly to the main office to sign in to school. Sign in on the pink Late Arrival sheet, and take a pink late pass to your teacher. It is important students sign in; otherwise, they may be marked absent by the teacher, and the office has no way of knowing they have arrived. Then the phone call would still go home to parents reporting the student is absent, which causes alarm to the parents as well as the school staff.
